Things to do Over Winter Break

I know you all keep hearing this, but self-care is important. No matter what year you are in our program, you’re probably stressed out and you’re counting down the days until Winter Break. It seems like we haven’t had a chance to just breathe, hang out with friends/family, or experience something new. If you’re like me and you want to experience something new or fun during the break here are a few suggestions if you don’t know where to start:

Rooftop Cinema Club (Now - December 23, 2017)

Price: 19, loveseat $29

Do you love Hollywood movies? Do you enjoy watching movies on the roof? ...Yeah, I’ve never tried that either, but the Rooftop Cinema Club offers that experience! They’ll be screening movies like “Home Alone”, “Nightmare Before Christmas”, “Edward Scissorhands” and “Elf” until December 23rd. Worried about how cold it’ll be? Dont! They offer blankets and hot drinks.

Da Poetry Lounge (Every Tuesday)

Price: $5 - $10 depending on the night (check their website) CASH ONLY

One of my personal ABSOLUTE favorite places to be on Tuesday nights. If you enjoy poetry and spoken word this is the place for you. Ultimately, it is a communal space where people can share their stories and their truth in various forms. They even allow those who aren’t scheduled to perform share their narratives! It’s located at the Greenway Court Theatre at Fairfax High School in Los Angeles. I advise showing up EARLY, if seats fill up in the audience (which they do weekly) you will be asked to sit on stage surround the performers.

We all know that trial and error is real, especially when it comes to products we know and love. Have you ever wondered what happened to all those failed prototypes and inventions? This museum showcases a collection of more than 100 innovation failures.
