You have 2 papers due, internship, work, and a family to take care of. To make time for all this, you stop going to the gym, stop hanging out with friends, and get take-out instead of cooking something healthy. When we are busy, self-care is one of the first things to be pushed aside. Little do we realize that it only makes things worse.
With the hectic schedules that come with being a graduate student, we all know how hard it is to find the time to practice self-care. We focus so much on getting our work done, and serving our clients, that we often forget to take care of ourselves. We all need to get better at taking care of ourselves. We cannot help others, when we aren't helping ourselves. Self-care is crucial to maintaining good mental health. It helps us avoid burnout, deal with stress, and allows us to recharge so that we can better focus on our tasks. Self-care can take many forms, and it doesn't have to be anything elaborate. Self-care can be as simple as taking five minutes to enjoy a cup of tea, taking a walk around the block, or cooking yourself a healthy meal. We want to encourage you to take the time to take care of yourself. Future you will thank you for it.
